Hard One, Not Done

A commemoration of the 100-Year Anniversary of the Ratification of the 19th Amendment from an Iowa Perspective

IOWA COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES

Each of the major colleges and universities in Iowa will be invited to participate in the 19th Amendment Centennial Commemoration by hosting speaker series, forums and campus conversations that consider, from multi- disciplinary perspectives, the historical context of the women’s vote and the progression toward current and future roles of women in our democracy. The primary objective of this initiative is to engage college students, and potentially the broader community, in meaningful and productive dialogue that motivates and inspires civic action and involvement. Invitations will be sent to appropriate representatives at each institution in order to maximize the potential for participation.

Target Audience: College/University students, faculty, and sta will be the primary target audience. However, some institutions may elect to involve the broader community as audience members or participants in some or all events/ offerings.

Lead Organizer(s): Sasha Wohlpart, Community Volunteer, Cedar Falls, Janet Carl, League of Women Voters, Grinnell, and Dianne Bystrom, former director, Carrie Chapman Catt Center for Women and Politics
